General information

The campus of the Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nuremberg is spread over the two cities Erlangen and Nuremberg. The Department Physics is located in the south-east area of Erlangen in a building complex called the Physikum. The labs and offices of the Optics Chair are on level 01 in building B2. The division secretary can be found in room 01.429. You may reach the Physikum by car, train or plane.

Coming by car

Coming to Erlangen by car on highway A3/E3, use exit Tennenlohe (exit number 84) and proceed towards Erlangen on the Äußere Nürnbergerstraße. Take the exit after the third bridge and follow the sign “Universität Südgelände” on the Kurt-Schuhmacher-Straße. After turning left at the first traffic light, follow the signs directing you to the Physikum.

Coming by bus and train

Erlangen can be reached by train in 15-20 minutes starting from the central station in Nürnberg. Arriving at the Central Station in Erlangen you can take a bus (line 287 or 293) to “Sebaldussiedlung” (last stop). From this bus stop, follow the signs to the Physikum (short walk).

Coming by plane

Planes arrive at the Nuremberg International Airport about 15 km from the city center of Erlangen. The Physikum can be reached from the airport within 15 to 20 minutes by taxi. Alternatively, take subway line 2 from the airport to Nuremberg Central Train Station, and continue from there as described above.
